Adoption Week Wrap-up and Giveaway Winners

Thank you so much to everybody that supported us this week with "Adoption Week." We are so grateful for our wonderful friends and family members, and those we don't know too, who are so encouraging and kind. We feel really fortunate to be surrounded by such awesome people. I was hoping to have another guest post yesterday or today, but sadly it didn't work out, so I'll be wrapping everything up, despite being far less eloquent than many of our friends :)

As a lot of you know, we've been hoping to adopt for the second time for a year now. We know that there are many wonderful couples who wait even longer. And waiting is hard. It's really frustrating. It reminds me of when we were doing fertility treatments, there's just this feeling of hopelessness, except for us personally, waiting to adopt is even harder, because we feel like we can't be doing much to change things like we did with seeing doctors, running tests, etc back in the day. We're just...waiting. So this past week it's been awesome to feel more empowered, like we're doing something bigger than posting little tidbits on our facebook adoption page or constantly editing our website. Thank you so much for your help and support. We can't express in words how much it means to us. For everyone who commented, shared things on facebook, and most of all really read posts and thought about them, we are so thankful for your support. We feel so loved, and we love all of you!

I was hoping to come up with some tips for friends and family members of those who are hoping to adopt, on how to support your loved ones in their adoption journey. As I thought about it, I stumbled across this article that covers things pretty well. I don't know if I should even bother with my own. I think the biggest three things Shaun and I appreciate are these:

  • Prayers for our baby, their birth family, and for us.
  • When people use respectful adoption language, it tells us that they care so much about our family that they are making a conscious effort to be supportive. Jen's post was hugely read this week, and I am so happy about that! I hope that message is really remembered.
  • Help us spread the word and network. Like the above point, it makes us feel like our loved ones really care about us when they are actively trying to help us find our next baby.
I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but just one more time: Thank you so much. Thanks for reading this week, and thank you for your support and love.

If you missed any of this week's posts, here's a little menu to help you find them easily:

And, last but not least, the winners for the giveaways. First I really have to thank those who made things for the giveaways--my mom, my sister, my brothers, my aunt, our friend, and my handsome hubby. I wish everyone could've won but alas, the voice of random.org has been heard: (drumroll please!)
